It seems the 4Runner’s power steering leak is where the hose meets the rack on the return side (90% confidence based on how it looks after driving to and from work today; cleaned it off last night). The fitting is on the front of the rack (behind the axle), sandwiched by the rack, engine, and frame.
Oh, maybe we can get to it from the top, then.
Or maybe not.

Feel for you. My PAS rack is on top of the bell housing ...the only way to get to it is to remove the gearbox. Which also requires partial disconnection of the engine from the chassis...
